Pseudocyst

The adventures and life of a Specialist Nurse in Upper GI and Bariatric surgery. If you then double and triple this by having a primary school age child AND being married to another Nurse then you have double the trouble….aehm I mean fun. Hobbies are playing chess, board games and being taxi for our son!!!

Setting the scene – home

Married to a fellow nurse (yes, of course we met at work – where else really) and we have a 6 year old son.

I was married before and unfortunately that didn’t work out and after 6 years of marriage we went different ways. I think since the divorce I have seen/bumped into her 5/6 times and it was weird.

When I got divorced I applied for other nursing jobs – mainly abroad as I wanted to leave the UK and go as far away as possible. The Middle East seemed a relatively nice ish place to go as the working conditions were great and you earn a lot more money.

So, I took a job in Abu Dhabi when I was still single and when the job finally came around (just over a year later) was in a relationship with my now wife.

When I met her I played it “cool” as I didn’t really wanted a relationship as I literally felt like a failure by getting divorced (Well, we met roughly 9-10 month later).

At the time I was just doing some bank/locum work to fund my travels around Europe. My ex-wife bought me out of our house (sort off) and I then used the money to rent our old house for 6 month (paid upfront) so I didn’t had to move straight away. I then stopped my permanent job and started doing bank/locum shifts around the hospital.

Whilst I was back in the UK – as money was getting short again – I did some night shifts on my old ward and that’s when we met (according to my wife).

After one of those shifts we went for breakfast together and I was quite smitten about it. By that point I’ve already had my interview for the job in Abu Dhabi and wasn’t sure when I was leaving.

It wasn’t easy as I wasn’t sure about having a relationship “hanging” over me again and I think I broke up with her twice in the space of a year. I was just being stupid and didn’t really appreciate what I’ve had at the time.

When I finally left for the job in Abu Dhabi we decided to give the relationship a go and see where it leads us…

Now, a few years later we have a son and married for nearly 7 years – it worked out so far!!!
