Our neighbour came around to ours at 6pm. I know her since we started “Nursing School” together in 2009. It does help at work having friends in senior positions these days – not only working on the wards.
Luckily, she works as one of the senior nurses in Interventional Radiology hence I do get stuff done relatively quickly as it usually is just one phone call and the procedure is getting done.
Our son gets on really well with her and in addition to this they have a rough collie – which is always a bonus in my opinion (having a dog kids get on with I mean).
A brief chat/moan about work (normal) and then I headed off to the meal.
Two of the consultants made it to the meal and the food is Madeiran (I think that’s how you spell it) and it come on huge skewers.
It was a great evening, and I was back home around 10pm and I found my wife and our neighbour chatting in the living room.
Again the usual topic: Work!!! π¦
After the long day I retired to bed shortly after our neighbour left and my wife was the same.
Today was Paignton Zoo on the menu and we met our friends there for around 10am – 10.30am.
Driving down there wasn’t great as it was just pissing down with rain and the forecast wasn’t better either.
Paignton zoo isn’t brilliant but it’s nice and they are investing a lot of money currently in re-arranging closures and building new ones. They also building a new outdoor playing facility for the kids.
We stayed until about 3.30pm and on the way home did some shopping. Our son was tired from all the running around (including in the indoor play area) and slept partly during the journey home.
Intermittently work messages coming through and I really should mute the WhatsApp group whilst I am on annual leave.
Talking point throughout the day with my wife are some work issues in her working area/department. A newly appointed Band 6 (Junior Sister) seems below par in her work and struggles. That can have an effect on the working areas around you including where my wife works.
From what I understand on numerous occasions they have locked horns and my wife pointed out some shortcomings – personally I think that is very reasonable to do.
Problem is that in these moments the naivety and inexperience of the other staff member shows and that leads to quite some confrontations.
Adding the problem of a manager who is “unable” to deal with these problems and you have a recipe for disaster.
I guess the saga continues and I’ll see/hear tomorrow evening what has happened at work.
As long as I don’t get dragged into this it should be fine. Although I am 100% behind my wife as I do think she is correct.

What do you think?
